A brief history of The Ferry House

The Ferry House was originally built in 1792 by Uriah Mayhew as a dwelling and a place of business from which he could oversee operations of the ferry. The ferry crossed the Maurice (pronounced Morris) river in Cumberland County and provided a way for travelers from Delaware to reach Cape May and other locations on the Jersey shore.
